The Custom Foot was started in 1987 as a synthesis of boot- fitting techniques from traditional leather boot technology (hiking, mountaineering, X-C, and telemark) and plastic Alpine ski boot technology. With time the various boot manufacturers have blended these two technologies and we've found our work to be progressively more important.
As our focus has widened from the mountain environment to other sports and activities, we've seen a growing need for more sophisticated products. We continue to search the world for methodologies and materials that perform better and with more comfort. At present our suppliers are located in France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and the U.S.
Owner Lee Kinney has been in the outdoor industry for over 25 years. He has had extensive training while living in Colorado and Idaho, and makes yearly visits to footbed manufacturers to further his knowledge in this area and strive to remain at the forefront of footbed and footwear technology.
