Ashley Teren

Born in Sun Valley, Idaho, Teren grew up ski racing for Rowmark Ski Academy in Utah and finished her high school education in Islamabad, Pakistan. She raced for Western Washington University in the early 90’s and then completed her graduate school years in Hawaii where she became an avid spear-fisher woman and completely forgot about skiing. Upon her return to the US mainland, after a 15 year break from skiing, she wholeheartedly immersed herself in the industry by skiing year round, ski/summiting the Cascade peaks in the summer, and honing her PSIA credentials in the winter. Teren coached for Mt. Ashland Race Association (MARA) for five years, and is currently a PSIA level III Alpine certified instructor at Mt. Bachelor where she has taught for five years. She was a brand ambassador for Faction skis for three years and now represents Elan Ski as central Oregon’s brand ambassador.

Early in 2020 she created a 501c3 called Leave a Trace Ski and Ride Foundation to get high quality gear and instruction to lesser known snowy regions of the globe such as Morocco, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Pakistan, et cetera. She successfully delivered six pair of freeride skis to Oukaïmeden ski area in the Atlas mountains of Morocco. Making the most out of a disappointing ski season, Teren was one of six recipients in the country to receive the Nancy Oakes Hall Women's Scholarship to train with the with the top women in the industry at Snowbird, Utah before Covid-19 shut down the globe. Locally Ashley is a grant writer for a Native American non-profit and internationally she strives to travel the shadowy corners of the globe to discover new cultures, new lines and creative ways to give back to local communities.
