Johnson has been in the ski industry for over 25 years as a ski instructor at Mt. Bachelor, a race coach for Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation, a Level III Certified Professional Ski Patroller at Mt. Bachelor and as a bootfitter and salesperson at 4Seasons Recreational Outfitters in Sunriver, Oregon. Johnson served as a K2 Telemark Ambassador and helped design a ski for their women's telemark ski line 1998. She currently skis in northeastern Oregon's Wallowa Mountains, both in the backcountry and also at her local ski hill, Ferguson Ridge, with The Hurricane Rippers junior ski program, building ski skills, relationships, camaraderie and etiquette with the local youth. Says Johnson, "When I click into my skis, I feel like a kid again and the mountains are my playground--there's nothing like skiing with your friends in a 'Rat Pack!' That is what I am trying to instill in these kids. Put the screen away, get outside, make friends, memories, and enjoy nature." Currently an employee of the State of Oregon's Department of Transportation (snow plow driver & employee safety liaison), Johnson's face shots are on a windshield but she says she'll take what she can get these days. When not in the mountains you will find Johnson on the river floating, fishing, hot springing and spending time with her two grandkids.
